NO LONGER JUST A DINING CHAIR balloon back chair

I really enjoy doing balloon back chairs.
Not because they are easy to work on but because I love the shape so much.

They are also great small space chairs, light weight yet solidly built,
once revamped they can be used in many rooms of your home.
They can be use at a desk in your daughter`s room, and even at your office desk.
George uses a balloon back chair at his desk.
They are the perfect vanity chair, or extra seating when entertaining,
How about in the bathroom with some folded towels sitting upon the seat?
Let`s not stop there ....
In the front entry to drop your coat and bag on,
and of course they fit nicely as a bedroom chair to throw extra pillows or a robe on.
I primed and painted this one in my signature white semi gloss paint.
Then upholstered in a black velvet material with a damask 2 tone design.
It`s also trimmed with bright white cording.

MORE THAN JUST A PEDICURE lions foot chest

The veneer on one side and top had to be completely removed due to water damage.
We have all come across those bubbling and wavy surfaces and sometimes it can be fixed.
But not this time.
I stripped and sanded and filled and sanded some more,
then added several coats of paint and wax to get this crisp clean white surface.
The right side veneer was saved and I restained the wood on the left.
She has her original key locks still in place and I out fitted her with a set of reproduction handles.
She is painted in ASCP Old White and clear wax,
and is the perfect height for a grand bedside table.

You can find a side by side before and after pic here.

Just another MCM

Trying to do a gray thing with this new piece. Only the drawers are finished.
My little feral friend, The Shop Cat, is always there to keep me company.
She was completely enthralled with the sanding process:
I used a homemade chalkpaint to which I added some silver glittery paint additive things.
From Lowes. It makes it look like a quartz countertop in the right lighting.
A pop of pink on the drawers for fun!
Even tho this was chalk paint, for some reason the wax just didnt buff out well. I used
tung oil on the sides and applied 2 coats of acrylic top coat on top for protection.

A Giveaway Just Because

*******COMMENTS ARE NOW CLOSED*******
Greetings!  Its been a while since Ive had a giveaway so I thought it was definitely time for another.  So, because I love my readers so much and appreciate you taking the time to visit, Ive got a special bag of goodies picked out for one lucky reader.
I have to tell you, this was so much fun!  I love gift giving!
This is what is included in the giveaway.
Ive been experimenting with my mini bread board sets again and mixed and matched from both my mini bread board sets to come up with this set.  Its also in walnut, which I really love.  If you read my blog, you know how much my bread boards mean to me.
Hopefully, these will be offered in my shop soon.
First up, a set of 4 mini bread boards.
I love how the dark walnut pops against white plates. (table props - dishes, napkins, glasses, pitchers of flowers - NOT included in giveaway)
Of course, you cant have a set of mini bread boards without having a
large walnut bread board to go with it.
I am cuckoo for the wood grain in this board.  It is gorgeous.  And to place on each individual bread board, 4 beautiful tiny rosewood bowls from Bahari for dipping oil, jam, melted butter or
whatever you love with your bread.
A cute little olive oil decanter...
And this book.  I love it.  It works, just try it.  It also has gluten free recipes for gluten free folks.
And thats it!
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment telling me your favorite bread.  For a second chance to enter, follow me on twitter and tweet the giveaway with my handle included @VintageHomeLove.  Leave your second comment with a link to show me you tweeted it.
Thats it!  Comments will be closed and giveaway ends on Thursday, July 12, 2012.  I will choose one winner via the random number generator Thursday night and announce the winner on Friday, July 13, 2012.  Good luck!
* This giveaway is being sponsored by me.  Bread boards were handcrafted by me.  I dont know the folks at Bahari or the authors of the cookbook and they dont know me.  I just happen to love their products and this cookbook.  :)
