THE CHALLENGE TO WORK WITH ORANGE patio for patrick

With a bit of extra time on my hands these past few days I have
gotten started on the patio. A dear friend along with George have
both challenged me to work with orange this time around. Both of
them know I cant ignore an out right challenge ... buggers!!!
Its just a start so far as I have had a great deal of cleaning from the
show as well as finalizing the latest Best Buy NSO (new store
opening) floor plans to get out of the way.
Heres a night shot with some of Georges white lights.
This painting was found while yard sailng with my sister last month.
Im also working on this fun little table for the patio. When I bought
it is was covered in a hideous brown red paint, which has taken a
very long time to strip. It is still in its DURING stage. There is also
a small glimpse of my solid Amber Alabaster lamp base which
I hope to incorporate into the patio decor.

Orange Glazed Blueberry Scones

With blueberries in abundance right now, not to mention affordable, Ive been having fun making some of our favorite summer sweets.  One of those is blueberry scones.  But with the heat of the summer, the last thing I really want to do is roll out dough.
And sometimes Im lazy.
Thats why I love this recipe.
You throw the dough together and drop it in heaps on the baking sheet.
Simple.
And no chilling, rolling and cutting dough into triangles.
Let me tell ya, the star here is definitely the orange glaze.  Without it, these are just ordinary scones.  With it, they are really something special.
Trust me.
As far as a glaze is concerned,
you just cant go wrong with melted butter, fresh squeezed orange juice and powdered sugar.
I could drink it.
You can find the recipe here.
I may or may not have eaten 4 of these just while taking the photos.
Tip:  To make the glaze super easy to drizzle on your scones, as well as super cute, I like to use those plastic cake decorating squeeze bottles available in the cake decorating department of the grocery store.  Theyre cheap and also perfect for storing your homemade snow cone syrup.
What are your favorite blueberry recipes?

MY VERY BEST FRIEND AND THE PATIO decorating with orange

This is Patrick my very best friend, one of the few ppl who actually understands how I work.
He challenged me to work with the color orange on the patio and its not been so easy.
He suggested following a Morrocan theme but thats just not me, Pat.
So slowly Im figuring out different ways to style the area.
I do have ideas to take the pattern in the pillows and stencil it onto the rug.
It will be the opposite of the pillows where the base color is taupe and the design will be orange.
If you have any suggestions regarding stenciling to a rug plz share, Im a bit nervous.
The vintage wood stool was found at a yard sale and was a simple prime and paint job.
Both George and I really love the punch it offers.
Ive also been playing with white on the floor boards but the jury is out still.
George came home with a little surprise again that I put inside my ORANGE lantern.
It helps to keep the humidity high around our new venus fly trap plant.
George deals with flowers and plants all day long running a flower delivery company
and sometimes something catches his eye and it comes home with him.
Here is another one of his surprises that I cant recall the name of right now,
but this little guy loves the deck and is flurishing out there.
One of Gramdpas old 7-up crates standing on end and a fresh olive crate create a rustic side table.
My great Grandfather and then my mothers father owned the Port Kells gas station until the 80s.
We have always had a great source of memorablia from the store.
In the corner is a large oak cabinet we found one weekend, it has the kind of rustic beauty
that I dont think Ill ever cover with paint.
A top is a small collection of old world things we love and have found or had for some time.
Ive had this cast iron lion door knocker for many years.
And here are 2 wonderful vintage wood working tools, a planer and hand drill.
I have actually used this planer a few times when working on furniture.
So, Patrick what are your thoughts?
There is still more to see as soon as I get the photos taken.
